Mr and Mrs George A House and family traveled to Hot Springs Arkansas for the funeral of their son Sgt Festus C House who died in World War II. He served with the 2nd Infantry Division and earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart. The body arrived from Henri Chapelle Cemetery Belgium and was escorted to Hot Springs by Sgt Buford H Hughes.

VFW Meeting Tuesday Night At Local Hall

Low-Premium Life Policies Due in 1948
AUSTIN new low premium life insurance policies for persons under 35 are planned by mid 1948. State Life Insurance Commissioner George Butler said his department has approved such policies for 75 of 125 Texas companies and expects all to follow. The act of the 50th Legislature and use of actuary tables enable the lower premiums, with no expected change for those over 36. Savings may be substantial though exact figures won’t be clear until mid next year.

Highway 69 Strip To Be Relocated In Grayson County
The State Highway Commission asked Grayson County Commissioners to secure right-of-way for relocating 1,442 miles of Highway 69 from Whitewright to the Grayson Collin county line. The new route would pass south of Whitewright with a spur into Bond street, requiring 32,673 acres across 31 tracts.
