The Whitewright Commercial Club has waned since April 12, ending its seventh year with exhausted funds. A committee of J L Dyer J E Mangrum and J H Waggoner plans a get together banquet on Friday night November 10 with plate sales and entertainment to revive the club and refinance its work.
Visitors from Randolph attended the I. O. O. F. Lodge meeting last Thursday evening. T. L. Davis J. L. Steele R. L. Cates C. M. Baker W. H. Aldridge J. W. Baker C. W. Caldwell assisted with the second degree work.
Mrs W M Cox returned Saturday from a visit with her parents Mr and Mrs Wm Ingram at Nobility. Mrs Ingram has been ill for several months and is reported unimproved by Mrs Cox.
Whitewright businesses will close from 10 30 a m to 3 p m on Armistice Day Saturday November 11 during the American Legion program. Legion features will continue through the day with a full announcement to come in The Sun next week. Grocers ask customers to order provisions for early delivery as stores will not reopen until 3 p m.
A fine rain on Tuesday conditioned fields for fall tillage and benefited a large planted wheat acreage. Farmers awaiting rain can now sow with confidence of a good stand.
Miss Geneva Carr of Dallas spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Carr, during a weekend visit.

Neighbors report 90 year old Andy J. Moody perished in a Monday morning blaze at his two room home five miles southeast of Denison near the Starr schoolhouse. Judge J C Woodward saw the scene as firefighters and neighbors fought to reach him. Moody, who had lived in Grayson County fifty years after coming from Georgia, owned twenty acres and lived alone. his body moved to undertaker John L Swank for interment arrangements as efforts to locate relatives continued.
Last Sunday's Baptist Sunday school rally exceeded its three hundred attendee goal with reports of a turnout above that figure. Officers deserve congratulations for the successful day. Five hundred letters were mailed and a quarter page ad ran in The Sun promoting rally day.
Mrs J R Westbrook and Mrs L Bothe visited parents Mr and Mrs J R Ragsdale in Denison on Sunday as their daughter helped celebrate Mr and Mrs Ragsdale's fiftieth wedding anniversary with family and friends.

Sherman Oct 29 Rural letter carriers of Grayson County held a quarterly meeting at Knights of Pythias Hall with about fifteen carriers and substitutes. Lucian Andrews reported on Buffalo National Convention actions including a resolution favoring depoliticizing the Postal Service. County officers elected A L Whitehead president Austin Gage vice president Austin Harshbarger secretary. next meeting set for Sherman in January with a possible banquet and speaker invite Postmaster Philip of Dallas.
Mrs C P Johnson entertained the Missionary Society of Central Christian Church honoring Laura Lynne Major, a returned missionary from China, with a reception last Saturday. Guests included ministers’ wives, society presidents, and out of town guests. A program of readings, music, and a whistling solo complemented Chinese tapestries and a large red satin banner presented to Major. Refreshments were served to nearly 100 guests. A Home Missions conference is set at the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday November 7 at 5 pm with lunch at 6 pm.

Dayton B. Steed Grayson county judge was served with an injunction stopping the inclusion of Earle B. Mayfield as Democratic nominee on Grayson County ballots for the November Senate race. The clerk said ballots must be printed Thursday with delivery to boxes by Friday. the injunction must be dissolved to change the ballot.

Rev and Mrs Claud Johnston and Miss Bonnie Ruth Johnson and Miss Louellen Hicks of Farmersville were hosted by Mr and Mrs R F Beasley last weekend.
The Preston Everheart Post American Legion held a box supper and Halloween masquerade in the Pierce building Tuesday night despite heavy rain and mud. About one hundred dollars was raised from box sales to fund the Armistice Day program. bidders were mostly ex service men. Many who prepared boxes could not attend, prices ranged from two to three dollars and seventy five cents, and Prof. Willis provided entertainment by sitting on an electrically charged settee.
Mrs. R. E. Hickman went home to Mexia Sunday following a visit with her parents the Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Kirkpatrick.
W. T. Ross has returned from Lub bock where he spent the summer.
