Red Cross Elects Officers for Next Term

The local Red Cross executive committee led by W H King H C Willis Guy Hamilton Dr R L Sears and F M Echols selected officers for another term. Mrs R L Sears was named president with Mrs J L Boone as vice president W H King as treasurer and Mrs J R Dickson as secretary.

Whitewright Wins Grayson College Property Bid

The city of Whitewright acquired Grayson College property after a bid of $5,000 by trustee C. B. Bryant. Donations from local shareholders reduced city outlay, preserving the property for public use. The administration building may be dismantled for funds to repair roofs and safeguard the site while rental income from the dormitory is pursued.

Call for 1500 Army Nurse Aides in France

Surgeon General Ireland issues orders for 1,500 women aged 35 to 45 to serve as nurse aides in American military hospitals in France. Training spans forty days with ten days theory and thirty days practical work. Pay is $30 monthly with maintenance and transport provided. volunteers should apply to their nearest Red Cross chapter.

Central Christian Church Announces Resumption of Services

The Central Christian Church will resume all services next Sunday. During the morning service the pastor will present a five minute object sermon for the youth on Our Body and Spirit, with the regular discourse titled Gods Part in the World War. Evening sermon is The Door by Pastor A. E. Mason.

Mrs J H Truett to Spend Winter in Nashville

Mrs J H Truett of Waco will leave soon to spend the winter with her son Lieutenant Fred Moore Truett an instructor at Vanderbilt University in Nashville Tennessee. Bethel School opened last Monday with Misses Sallie Hamilton and Ermine Webster as teachers and bright prospects for the term. Denison Union station was the scene of a tragedy last Friday night when J A Bruhin was shot and instantly killed by his brother in law A L Laughlin.

Death of Mrs. Paul Hancock at Yaddo Oklahoma

Mrs. Jessie Sue Smith Hancock died at her home in Yaddo Oklahoma last Wednesday night. Her body arrived in Bells on Thursday and services were held at the home conducted by Rev. A R Nash before burial at Pilot Grove cemetery. She was 23, wife and mother, educated in Bells, taught in Oklahoma, survived by husband Paul Hancock of Caddo and one child. Father Isaac Smith former Bells businessman died six years ago. Miss Sue Stephens acted as mother to kin children and remains a central figure in the family notice. Modern social circle sympathy extended from Bells and surrounding communities.
