The Whitewright schools will close Friday afternoon with final commencement on the high school campus that evening at eight. A week of recitals and entertainments drew large crowds, featuring Miss Elizabeth May and Miss Mary Johnson’s music recital, a drama club play, and pupils’ recitals from Miss Tommie Chenoweth and Mrs. J. D. Harp. May Day Fete on campus drew hundreds for the queen coronations and student performances.

Saturday Bargain Day Brightens Whitewright

Aged men killed by Texas & Pacific train near Arlington
W C Heath age 73 and E F White age 63 residents of the Masonic Home for the Aged near Arlington were struck by a westbound Texas & Pacific passenger train at 8 05 am as they walked along the tracks. Heath who was blind was being led by White to Keystone Stop. White died two hours later at the Home Hospital. Both men born in Georgia had came to the Home from Pittsburg Texas. Heath had been there three years and White one.
