The Whitewright Home Demonstration Club met at Mrs. Grover C. Hardcastle home with Mrs. Carl May as president. Mrs. Hatfield led prayer and Mrs. Cook led the pledge. Nine members and one guest attended. Plans were made for a May 16 luncheon in Sherman with Westwood Club and for a June 8 gathering in Firemen's Hall with Whitesboro Club.
Funeral services were held at Mullican Little Funeral Home for Mrs May Kelsey 43 who died from injuries after a fall from a car on Ida road. A Bryan County Oklahoma native born July 28 1923 she was the wife of Ted Kelsey and mother of seven with relatives across Sherman Whitewright Garland Oroville and Citrus Heights. She was a Church of Christ member in Kentucky town and survived by her husband three sons Theodore Thomas and John two daughters Marie Thompson Vickie Cain Toya Kelsey a brother Charlie Gibson two sisters Marie Leeman and Vickie Venner and five grandchildren.
Lee Moore aged 77 died Tuesday afternoon after a heart attack at his Trenton home. He was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital Bonham where he died. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm in Wise Funeral Chapel Bonham with Rev. R L Cates officiating. He is survived by son Robert Moore and two grandsons Kenneth and Paul Moore, all of Plano. formerly of Whitewright, born February 16 1890 in Ely community.
Dr. Robert H. Browning of Ohio State University told Rhode Island physicians that smoking a pack daily reduces life expectancy by about seven years. Speaking at the Rhode Island Medical Society’s 156th annual scientific assembly, he cited 300,000 smoking-related deaths annually versus 55,000 highway deaths, and noted two-pack-a-day smokers lose about 10 to 14 years. He called the link to coronary heart disease, lung cancer, emphysema, and other diseases overwhelming.

The W M A of Bethel Baptist Church honored three graduating seniors Jan Buchanan Charles Williams and Donald Williams with a banquet at the church. James Owens gave the invocation Mrs Bob Cawthon welcomed and Donald Williams gave the reply. Tables decorated in gold and white WHS colors. Mrs Leta Benton former China missionary was guest speaker. Marshall Miller dismissed with prayer about 50 attendees.
Miss Linda Royce Hoover became the bride of James Barrie Blanton in a Friday afternoon ceremony May 12 at League City Methodist Church Houston. Rev. G R Nease officiated. The bride daughter of Mrs Irene Hoover Houston attended Middle Tennessee State College and works for Humble Oil and Refining. The groom UT graduate employed by Welex Corp. He is from Whitewright son of Mr and Mrs Roy Blanton. They were attended by Sam Stahl. Reception followed at Loyce Sells home. The couple reside at 3334 Norfolk Houston.

The case was blackened and had evidently been in the ground for a long time. Mr Taylor wound up the watch and it started running.

A son born to Mr and Mrs Morton Ashinhurst on May 4.
