Rabid Dog Bites Pilot Grove Boy
Five-year-old James Sloan, son of Mrs Grace Sloan of Pilot Grove, was bitten on the hand by a dog owned by a local man. The dog was killed and its head sent to the Pasteur Institute in Austin, which confirmed rabies. Rabies serum was ordered from Dallas as the boy begins a 21 day preventive treatment. Affected dog had bitten other dogs and possibly livestock, causing community fear.
