Death note L V Smith former Whitewright merchant dies in Italy
Word reached Friday of the sudden death in Italy of L V Vess Smith former Whitewright business man. He died of a heart attack while traveling on a train with his wife Nell Dillon sister of Guy Dillon of Durant Okla. Mrs Dillon will sail May 6 with the body arriving New York about May 20 then to El Paso for funeral and burial. Smith operated a Whitewright variety store after 1911 fire later worked at a local flour mill and retired due to heart trouble. The couple had lived with their son in law Capt George Dolan and daughter for more than a year. Another daughter Virginia resides in California.

Funeral Held For Mrs Lucy Love Martin In Tom Bean
Funeral services for 90 year old Mrs Lucy Love Martin were conducted at Tom Bean Baptist Church with burial at Holloway Cemetery. Survivors include three sons three daughters 27 grandchildren 36 great grandchildren and more relations. She died Monday at her Tom Bean home. Born in 1866 in Winston Salem North Carolina she was married in 1872 to G A Martin. She was a Baptist Church member.

VA Opposes House Fund For McKinney Hospital Renovation
The Veterans Administration urged the Senate appropriations committee to reject 2 million dollars added by the House for renovating the McKinney Texas VA hospital. Administrator H V Higley said the facility will close after Dallas hospital completion in about two years. He also urged disapproval of 1.5 million for Nashville. The McKinney plant is temporary, non fireproof and conflicts with the president’s hospital program.
