Whitewright public schools plan a free open air spring festival next week starting with a high school baseball game. A queen will be crowned after a lawn picnic and contests on the campus. Students nominated Miss Caroline Simmons Babe Nell Penn and Mildred Sue White with Babe Nell Penn chosen by vote.

Whitewright Students Return From State Clothing Contest
Misses Johnnie V. Dossey Louise Echols and Mac Reed returned from San Antonio after attending the state clothing contest. More than 600 girls participated. Whitewright entrants did not win prizes but enjoyed a tea at the country club a Chamber of Commerce banquet and automobile tours. Next year’s contest will be at Mineral Wells sponsored annually by the state department of economics.

First Session Of Scout Conference Held
The first session of the Boy Scout leaders training conference was held at the grammar school building Tuesday night with twenty eight present. Rat Poison Fatal to Small Child Near Mesquite
A two year old, Charlotte Edwards, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Edwards near Mesquite, died after ingesting rat poison Saturday. Doctors W W Lowery of Mesquite and G H Hudgins of Forney tried to save her life, but she had consumed a large amount. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Monday in Mesquite.

Two Story Brick Building Sold at Corner of Grand and Bond
The two story brick building at Grand Avenue and Bond Street, once Wilson-Montgomery hardware, was sold last Thursday to Charles Schuler of Dexter New Mexico. The former owner Frank Snipes lives in Roswell. The landmark on a prime business corner has been vacant. Schuler plans roof painting and rubbish removal this week and will return to Whitewright soon to arrange repairs and tenants.
