Tornado damages homes near Wylie Texas
A tornado cut a narrow path along Muddy Creek two and a half miles northwest of Wylie Collin County destroying the homes of L H McCreary and H M Massengale. Both families found refuge in storm houses and were uninjured. A barn northeast of the McCreary home was wrecked. No livestock were killed and crops suffered no harm. Residents say the cyclone lasted only a few minutes and moved northeast.

A D Mebane Noted Cotton Breeder Dies in Texas
Alexander D. Mebane, age 67, pioneer cotton breeder known for a sixth lock in cotton and the Triumph strain, dies in Lockhart. He helped develop the seed, moved to Texas fifty years ago, directed Lockhart National Bank, led the Lockhart school board, and headed the Texas Cotton Breeders' Association. Survived by wife Sarah Owens of Galveston and son Duff Mebane.
