Voters will choose a new mayor and one city commissioner on Tuesday April 4 marking a complete leadership change after more than 30 years. Funeral Friday for William R. Benson in East Whitewright
Funeral services for 89 year old William R. Benson will be at 10 a m Friday at the family home in East Whitewright. Ministers Rev Ross Bourland and Rev J A Henderson will conduct with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery under Earnheart Funeral Service. He died March 29 at 8 p m Born August 20 1860 in Marietta Georgia he moved to Texas in 1893 and Grayson County in 1905. He lived in Bethel and Pilot Grove before retiring to Whitewright. He was a Baptist Church member. Surviving are his wife five daughters three sons 15 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren and one sister.

Denison Physician Dr Charles Truett Dies at 33
Dr Charles Badgett Truett a Denison physician died of a heart attack at his home Sunday at age 33. He served in the U S Navy during World War II and later opened private practice in Denison. Surviving are his wife Dorothy and two sons, parents, and relatives in Whitewright and Denison. Funeral was held Monday at Bratcher Moore chapel. Burial Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Born March 13 1917 in Whitewright, he married in Dallas June 30 1938.

Three Bonham youths are sentenced in Lubbock
Three Bonham youths charged with the armed robbery of a downtown store pleaded guilty and received five and twelve year prison terms in Lubbock. Talmadge Monroe Bonham, 17, was granted 90 days to finish his education before serving a five year term. William Robert Leeman, 22, and Orville Wayne Mann, 21, were sentenced to twelve years.

Power mower injures Nueces supervisor losing four toes
Driscoll R. P. Kelley, supervisor at the Nueces Corporation plant five miles west of here, reported that a power lawn mower struck him after he moved a stick. He lost four toes from his left foot, all but the big toe, when the mower unexpectedly engaged.
Silver dollars weigh car dealer’s cash haul
Sid Wallick, a car dealer in Abilene, deposited 60 pounds of silver dollars at the First State Bank. He said the coins came from a Rankin man wary of paper money since the depression, and it took almost an hour to count the coins.
