W. T. Truett Funeral Held Here Saturday
Funeral services for W. T. Truett were held at the First Baptist Church of Whitewright Saturday afternoon. Truett died in San Angelo the previous Thursday and lay in state at his home of Rev. J. L. Truett before the service. Survived by six sons Arthur Truett Sherman Tom Truett Dallas J E Truett Oklahoma City Albert Truett Fort Worth a daughter Mrs J H McClure San Angelo a sister Mrs J A Penland Waco four brothers Rev J L Truett Whitewright L J Truett McKinney C S Truett McKinney and Dr Geo W Truett Dallas. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were L P Sears R L Holcomb R L Johnson Guy Hamilton W H King J B Dickson.

Farmers Lost Many Millions
Dallas report cites Representative Tom Connally saying southern cotton farmers lost many millions in 1927 due to exchange manipulation. He notes August 1927 saw 13.492 million bales at about 24 cents a pound, September 12.692 million bales yet December price fell to about 19 cents. Dr. S. R. Crabtree Dies East Texas Physician
Dr. S. R. Crabtree, 61, formerly of Whitewright, died at his Mt. Pleasant home Saturday night. A leading East Texas physician, he came from Tennessee 27 years ago, practiced in Whitewright, then moved to Mt. Pleasant. Survived by wife and four children. funeral held in Mt. Pleasant Sunday. He served as secretary treasurer of the Titus County Medical Association and was one of Mt. Pleasant’s last two physicians when he moved there twenty-five years ago.

The Red River Valley Fair will run October 1 to October 6 in Sherman. Gate fee fixed at 25 cents with season tickets priced at $1 and automobiles admitted free. Committee members include George Shields of Denison Fred Birge and Will Eubank of Sherman to arrange a horse show. L. L. Etchison named permanent secretary. President A. G. Mayse says the executive committee will meet weekly at the Chamber of Commerce.

Negro Shot In Front Of Church In North Town
J. P. Milam, a Black man, was shot in the left arm near the negro Methodist Church around 9:30 PM Saturday by H. S. Garrison who later surrendered on a $100 bond. Milam’s arm was mangled and reportedly amputated Tuesday morning. Garrison, described as a peaceful worker, fled and returned to surrender. the blast followed a prior fight in which Milam and two others whipped Garrison and ordered him to leave town.
