Pre-Easter Union Services Begin in Local Picture Show
Beginning Monday April 3 and through Friday April 7 a union revival service will be held at 3 PM each afternoon in the local picture show. Pastors from Central Christian First Baptist First Methodist and First Presbyterian Churches will cooperate and alternate preaching. James Jernigan will lead singing. Each night at 7 30 PM simultaneous services will occur in these churches with pastors preaching in their own houses of worship. Public invited to all union and individual services with good attendance predicted.

Kinzie Shotgun Wounding At Rural Service Station
J D Kinzie, 60, was found with a shotgun wound at his service station on Highway 160 seven miles south of Whitewright. Pellets fractured two ribs and he was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital, Sherman. A nearby witness, J F and J B Tree, heard a shot after Kinzie spoke farewell.

Escaped Convict Surrenders Here Goes Back to Pen
W E Cooper of Gilmer one of five crippled convicts who escaped from Wynne prison farm near Huntsville surrendered in Whitewright on Wednesday morning. He was taken to the city jail after police and prison officials arrived, saying the others abandoned him near Sherman. The escape followed overpowered guard with a pistol and rifle theft. Cooper claimed force, others named Lloyd Tuck Brown Horton and Arthur Brown were involved. Radio reports later indicated Tuck and Brown were captured in Denison.

The final court episode in theft cases linked to a "free automobile" subscription contest in Van Astdyne Leader ended with charges against publisher Scott Fulton dismissed for insufficient evidence.
