Grayson County will hold a county wide special beer election on Saturday April 3 by the Commissioners Court. Only Precincts No 1 and No 2 will be affected as Precincts No 3 and No 4 have never had legal beer since repeal. Denison lies in Precinct No 2 and Sherman in Precinct No 1.

Texas Medal For Veterans Costs One Dollar To Obtain
World War II veterans may obtain the Texas medal honoring service members with the United States forces, a program begun in 1933 and extended in 1943 to include World War II and other campaigns. The medal cost was not borne by the state, and applicants receive orders through the adjutant general from Lewis Military Supply of San Antonio. Maj. Gen. K L Berry notes only a few veterans apply daily.

Tractor Falls Through Bridge Near Whitewright
Alfred Winkle escaped a wreck when his tractor and attached plows plunged through a creek bridge northeast of Whitewright. The machine landed upside down in the water but he crawled free with only minor scratches. Badgett & Wilson housemoving equipment lifted the gear from the creek with minimal damage.

Funeral Services Here Friday For Pfc Elmer Joe Key
The body of Pfc. Elmer Joe Key arrived in Whitewright and will lie in state until 1 30 p m Friday at the First Baptist Church for services. Key, killed in Kunming China by snipers on September 27 1945, was 21 and a WWII veteran awarded the Purple Heart and a presidential unit citation. He served in the 132nd Army Air Force Base Unit India China Division and trained at Sheppard Field Las Vegas and other bases. Burial will be at West Hill Cemetery Sherman in the Veterans Memorial Plot with American Legion funeral honors. He is survived by his parents two brothers a sister and grandparents.
