Former Whitewright Mayor C. W. Bryant Dies at 80
Funeral services for Charles Wesley Bryant 80 former mayor of Whitewright were held at the Methodist Church with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. He died after a monthlong illness and had lived in the area all his life. He served as mayor after moving to Whitewright in 1906 and was active in the Methodist Church and Masonic lodge. Survived by four children and multiple relatives. Outoftown attendees listed from nearby towns and cities.

State Clean-Up Week Set for April 4–11, 1937
Governor James V. Allred proclaims April 4 to 11 as a Texas spring clean-up and fire prevention week. A joint effort by the State Health Department and State Fire Insurance Department urges citizens to clean yards basements attics and alleys screen for flies and mosquitoes and keep garbage pails closed. FHA Ends Guarantee on Modernization Loans
Washington D C congressional leaders and housing officials said the federal housing administration will stop guaranteeing home modernization and repair loans after March 31 the expiration date of the act section authorizing such guarantees. Chairman Steagall said he expects no committee approval for extension though some congressmen seek one. The FHA still must supervise about 1 380 000 insured loans worth 525 million dollars, a task McDonald estimates will take four years with annual administrative outlay of 500 thousand dollars.
