U S May Have To Recall Silver Coins
British economist Sir Roy Harrod told a Rice University audience in Houston that the United States may need to recall silver quarters and half dollars and replace them with nickel if fiscal policies do not change. He warned that rising silver prices could make coins worth more than their face value and trigger melting of coins for their metal. Harrod cited Queen Elizabeth I’s medieval ban on melting silver and recalled the severe punishment then used.

Alarming Rise Reported in Texas Fatal Auto Accidents
DPS in Texas reports a sharp rise in 1964 highway fatalities reaching 300 fatal accidents and 380 deaths by Friday noon, compared with 280 crashes and 343 deaths last year.
