Whitewright Troop 42 of Sherman area council received two of three awards at a Court of Honor last Thursday. Advancements and uniform were the honors. scouts Chuckie Watkins Carl Ray Bailey Wallace Mynatt Carl Ed Dunlap Murray Bryant Randy Bryant Will Cureton Gary Ryan Eddie Range and Greg Sanderson attended with leaders and family members. Troop 42 lists Life Scouts Joe Clint Hennig Mickey Meadow Eddie Range and One Star Scout Larry Ryan.
The Whitewright Church of Christ will conduct a gospel meeting from Monday night through March 11 with services at 7:30 PM nightly. Evangelist Lee Schumpert of Wolfe City will lead, known from the church radio program on Bonham station at 12:15 to 12:30 daily.
The Texas State Democratic Party argues voters who used a Republican ballot in the first primary cannot vote Democratic in the runoff. The legal subcommittee recommends instructions to county and precinct officials if approved by the State Democratic Executive Committee on March 12. She died at Savoy Rest Home after long paralysis and illness. Pallbearers listed. Earnheart Funeral Home in charge. Survived by husband S. T. Montgomery Jr. and children Toland Atkinson and R. E. Sandlin, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were in Sherman for W. F. Blanton 88 brother of Mrs. Charlie Layman of Whitewright. Burial in West Hill Cemetery. Born May 6 1874 near Whitewright he married Jenny Wrenn Nov 18 1896 at Ector. Former Grayson County tax assessor. Survived by wife two sons two daughters a brother a sister two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held for infant Herman Alton Mathis at Oak Hill Cemetery. He died February 21 at the family home and was born February 17. Pastor Wallace Mynatt of the Church of Christ led the rites. Survived by parents Jack and Mrs. Mathis and five sisters and three brothers all of Whitewright. Grandparents Thomas Mathis of Warrior Alabama and Mrs. Katherine Turner of Henrietta.
Ruben Macado and his wife Anays from Havana Cuba were guests of Enterprise Baptist Church for morning and evening services. He delivered inspiring messages about fleeing Cuba and shared several hymn selections in Spanish. Macado previously taught at the Baptist Seminary of Havana and now attends the Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth.

Commissioner Mortimer Caplin told a House subcommittee that from Jan 2 to Jan 26 twenty nine cases yielded about 600000 in additional revenue, with some back to 1918 and one payment as large as 233778.
New York reports Col John Glenn then a Marine major won $30,000 on Name That Tune with partner Eddie Hodges from Sept 3 to Oct 15 1957. They identified seven songs first night and five per show on later dates, including Far Away Places. Hodges later starred in Music Man.

In Sarnia Ontario a severely injured driver, Thomas Ward, was found by his family pet Rex. The dog led Ward by the collar to Lawrence Johnston’s home where medical help arrived. Doctors credited Rex with helping prevent fatal blood loss.
