Supt S T Montgomery Jr invites parents to visit local schools next week to view student work and speak with teachers about issues and concerns. The annual program has seen little parent response in past years.
Farmers of the Whitewright area are invited to an organization meeting at 7 30 p m Tuesday night in the Whitewright high school agriculture building. Bob Justice president of the Fannin County Farmers Union says Richard Alexander Texas Farmers Union field representative will discuss aims and benefits. Justice notes Fannin County has 300 members and Grayson County has a single chapter at Southmayor.
A 33 member Texas Farmers Union delegation led by Denton’s Alex Dickie Jr visits Washington to press for 90 percent parity and oppose the soil bank plan. Plains Cotton Growers join in criticizing the 7/8 inch staple basis for cotton price supports, while Sen Price Daniel warns of an uphill fight and cites amendments proposed by Sen Lyndon B. Johnson.

The meeting linked with a world wide church attendance drive focusing on private and family devotions and Upper Room Stewardship. A Texas state wide canvass was approved with a $2,800,000 fund drive for Dallas Methodist Hospital as part of a $4,500,000 expansion.
President Eisenhower declared he is willing to accept a second term nomination and can perform all duties of the presidency. He explained a lighter schedule including rest and exercise and said he would not engage in extensive barnstorming campaigns if he runs again.

Jerry Mack Harvey eleven son of Mr and Mrs Ivan Harvey of the Ely community was critically injured last Thursday afternoon when struck by an automobile on a street at Ector. He suffered a fractured skull fractures of both legs a fractured arm and other injuries. The driver was Mrs Mattie Rushing of Bonham and Harvey was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital in Bonham for treatment.
The Post Office Department formally adopts combination mail into the regular service. Postmaster General Arthur E. Summerfield began a trial last November and reported January 28 that public response favored continuation. The system allows enclosing first class letters in parcel post packages and mixing mail classes with appropriate postage and notation.
Bonham report notes low voter interest in county politics. Three candidates seek sheriff: Hoyt Ivey the current holder, Earl Cain a former deputy, and Willy Earle a taxi driver. No filings yet for county attorney or tax assessor collector though incumbents Tibby Wright and Robert Dale plan to run again.
L L Windell announces the First Sunday Singing Convention will meet in Tom Bean. He notes the Ida event was a full house with many singers and urges attendance at 2 p.m. for a strong turnout.
