A major fire in Sherman totally destroyed the Pittman and Harrison Company grain and seed plant on East Cherry. Losses include up to 15,000 bushels of corn and hundreds of carloads of seed with total damage pegged at at least a quarter of a million dollars. The plant was insured, and rebuilding plans were not announced.
