Veterans Administration Queries and Answers on Benefits
A wartime veteran and a peacetime veteran differ in payment rates. peacetime is usually 75 percent of wartime, with wartime rates if service was extra hazardous or war-simulating. Veterans may move claim files to a new regional office on request. Area Offices give initial ratings for WWII claims. others are handled by Regional Offices. Eligibility for guaranteed loans does not require an honorable discharge. Hospitalization eligibility can exist if last wartime service discharge was not dishonorable. Readjustment allowance depends on active service after Sept 16, 1940, with eight payments per month for the first three months and four per month thereafter to a max of fifty-two payments.
