Summer Festival Was Big Success
The two day event sponsored by the Whitewright Home Demonstration Club drew good attendance despite poor weather. Booths from the clubs were provided by the Denison Chamber of Commerce trade extension committee. Baby show prizes went to Thornhill Collins Norris Stephens. Tom Thumbs wedding featured Linda Mae Norris and Richard Dean Cook. Denison night offered amateur acts with 60 dollars in prizes. Notable winners included Leinart Rich Bryant Oliver Ramblers Waldrum. Prizes and cakes were donated by local merchants and auctioned each night.

Jesse Jones Endows Economics Chair At Austin College
Jesse H. Jones and Mrs. Jones donate 40000 to Houston Endowment Inc to establish the John T. Jones Chair of Economics at Austin College in Sherman. The chair honors Jones's elder brother, John T. Jones, who died in Houston last August at age 74.
