Lockhart, consul general at Shanghai, is a Grayson College ex student who lost a hand in an accidental gunshot wound while a student there. J B Hamilton, who attended Grayson College with Lockhart, said he sat up with him the night of the amputation.

Denison firemen aided by soldiers hunted Tuesday night for Arthur K. Stehn of New York a member of the 86th Battalion United States Engineers who fell into Red River at 5 p.m. while guiding driftwood from the ponton bridge built to aid Denison Dam construction. His unit is based at Camp Robinson Arkansas. The Texan mountains west of the Pecos are described as large as West Virginia.

The Methodist missionary society purchased a new Hammond organ for the church auditorium. The gothic style console and tone cabinet include rotor tremulant and reverberation controls. The organ cost over 1700 dollars, funded by a 1000 dollar bequest from the late Mrs. C. B. Bryant Sr. and savings from the society. The gift enabled cash payment for an instrument all members can enjoy.
