Mr and Mrs Will Simms and children Mrs Homer Garner and daughter and Mrs M A Deaton of Whitewright with Mrs Marion Feagan and son of Denison and Argus and Melvin Simms of Sherman attended the funeral of their nieces and cousins Erma Dean Henson and Georgia Lee Garner in Amity Arkansas on Saturday. The two girls drowned about 3 p m June 12 in a pool near Philadelphia Arkansas. They were great granddaughters of Mrs M A Deaton of Whitewright.

The June 11 1911 Whitewright blaze destroyed much of the business district and several blocks of homes. The 1911 fire began near the main block, fed by wind, with no water pressure from a broken steam pump and a powerless volunteer fire department. The First National Bank survived. many structures burned, and fire departments from Denison and Katy Flyer personnel assisted before water ran out.
