Ice War Grips Farmersville As Prices Plunge
Farmersville residents enjoyed a novelty as ice sold on the square at 40 cents per hundred, then 30 cents, then 20 cents as two firms battled prices. The Greenville truck began the discount and the local company matched, drawing farmers and townspeople to stock up. Officials say the fight will continue while sweltering citizens hope for an all summer run.

The Barnard Gang Camps and Loot Near Broughton Street
An eyewitness recounts how Barnard and his partner camped north of Broughton Street after leaving Lawrence. They unpacked plunder in the woods then moved to the Rich ards brick store upstairs, kept private, paid in gold, and returned to Missouri with only a small portion of gold, later killed the same year. The burned store foundations reveal a near-pristine cellar, and the camping site is pinpointable within ten feet.
