Mrs. Ocie England Cooper died after a six month illness at 7:50 am on Tuesday at her home on Highway 82 four miles west of Bells. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Barnheart Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Waldrop officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. She was born August 3, 1905 in Sunbright Tennessee, married Lewis Cooper January 24, 1925, and lived in Ely, Whitewright, then in their present home. Surviving are her husband, one son Larry, three sisters and two brothers.
William T Reeves aged 62 died of a heart attack at his East town residence early Sunday. He was born Aug 3 1894 near Whitewright and served in World War I. He married Arline King April 12 1918 at Whitewright and leaves a wife two daughters his mother one sister and four grandchildren. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery with pallbearers Pascal Farley Jack Bradley Manton Fain Edgar Taylor George Hicks and Jerome McKinney. funeral Tuesday at Barnheart Chapel led by Rev Elmer Thomas and Rev Fairchild.

Mrs Anna Harper of Denison died in Denison on Tuesday. Her body was sent to San Antonio for burial. She was a sister of W H Stedham of Whitewright and Mrs Etta Reese of Denison.
Funeral services for Melvin Victor Cook 74 were at Savoy Church of Christ at 2 30 p m Tuesday conducted by W H Secoy Rev James Gatlin and Rev Clayton Hicks of Bells. Burial at Sunnyside Cemetery Savoy directed by Barnhart Funeral Home.
The Rotary Club meets Friday in the First Baptist Church dining room where church women will serve luncheon until new arrangements are made. Craig's Cafe, a Whitewright staple since 1914, closes tonight after the building sale to R P Childress. Ned Ayres then runs the town’s sole cafe until a new operator opens another.
Officials of the Old Cotton Belt Association met with Plains Cotton Growers leaders in San Antonio to seek harmony over 1958 cotton acreage. Discussions involve a proposed 1958 1959 freeze based on 1957 allotments with support from Panhandle Valley Texas Farm Bureau and regional chambers.
