Riding Club president Doc Haliburton will lead the parade with Thursday night’s Rodeo Sweetheart Jane Bigger staff and fellow Sweethearts Brenda Bing. The event features bare back bronc riders calf ropers steer wrestlers and girl’s barrel racers. Gerald Smith of Bogota Texas produces, LR.A. performer of the year 1007 at Jewies Books. The championship rodeo is LR.A. approved and the Huntsville Prison Rodeo band plays for Whitewright area fans.

Bells wreck injures Abilene trucker in Bells crash
Abilene driver Billy Charles Hill suffered broken ribs a broken arm facial cuts and other injuries when his semi overturned in Bells after losing control and sliding 3000 feet. Neighbors aided by J A Milton pulled Hill from the burning load of naptha as fire crews battled the blaze for two hours. Vehicle damage estimated at 30 000 to 40 000 with Hill hospitalized in Sherman.

Local teams keep winning across youth baseball results
Youth league action ended last week with an 18 5 victory over Tom Bean on Thursday. Friday night Whitewright 1 defeated Howe 25 0 while Whitewright 2 edged Belis 4 2. Monday Whitewright beat Trenton 12 2 and Whitewright 1 won 13 1 over Whitewright 2 in a town rivalry.

Newmans Granted Angus Junior Memberships
Newmans Richard and Randy New man of Whitewright were named junior members of the American Angus Association at St Joseph Missouri. The designation allows registering purebred Angus at regular dues and full privileges until age 21 with future conversion to lifetime status. Last month 177 youths in the United States received junior memberships.

Leonard W. Tomlinson is installed as pastor of First United and Marvin Methodist Churches in Whitewright arriving Saturday to begin duties. Eight years in ministry, son and great grandson of ministers, served in New Mexico Oklahoma and Texas, educated at Eastern New Mexico University and Perkins School of Theology. He and wife Gwen have six children Celeste Steven Bruce Paetill Chris and Angie.
