Whitewright Riding Club completes plans for a three day rodeo at the C. W. Dawson Memorial Arena on Highway 69 North of Whitewright. The event runs Thursday through Saturday with a parade, performances at 8 30 p m, prize money and a special 8 horse two team relay race each night. Gerald Smith of Bogota Texas, IRA's performer of the year in 1967, will be producer. LR A approved. books open June 18 noon, close June 19 noon.

Whitewright Lions Club elected new officers led by W. J. Bilmner as president and planned an installation in July. The club approved free labor for street signs funded by the city at an estimated $1500, held a fish fry, donated $20 from Community Cable Co., and supported a town cleanup drive. They also gave $10 to pianist Rhonda Bonds.

Two Accidents injure ten in Whitewright area
Two separate crashes injured ten people near Whitewright last weekend. In the Friday collision a head on crash on a narrow country road seriously injured Larry Henderson and hospitalized Charles Henderson and Ralph Christian. A second accident north of town Saturday sent seven residents to hospital with others treated and released. Mayor R Summers attends a water operations course in Arlington this week.

Whitewright Quarter Horse Show named most successful
The 8th Annual Quarter Horse Show sponsored by the Whitewright Riding Club drew an unusually large entry, with 41 classes and trophies for first place and ribbons for places 2 through 6. Keith Barnett Sr. of Mesquite served as show judge as volunteers help in the campaign and city officials set a May drive. A separate education note announces Whitewright ISD’s Title 1 funds approval. $3,199 tentative entitlement with $1,119 immediate payment and a treasury check expected within a week.
