Guy Dillon of Durant asks for the return of his long oval Panama hat lost at the Grayson College reunion. A replacement hat left behind was used to collect funds, as he found a dime under the band.
The State Board of Insurance Commissioners suspended General American Casualty Company of San Antonio and asked the Attorney General to begin a receivership case. The firm, with about four million dollars in assets and estimated one million in debt, faced pressure after a directorate request. The company blamed adverse publicity from political developments, referring to statements by a gubernatorial candidate.
L. L. Wendell asks The Sun to announce the County Line Singing Convention at Pink Hill three miles west of Bells on Sunday at 2 pm. He notes new song books, hopes for a full house, and invites all to attend and enjoy good songs.
In Trenton, the Baptist church will move into a new building by July 11. Rev. Fred Thomas, the youthful pastor, notes the church burned on Navy 29 and work began April 3. Funds, except for one barbecue, come from donations to reach about $3,000, which should be paid as construction finishes.
Mrs. Paul Rab inowitz reported that horse shoes can bring harm as seven stitches were needed for a head wound after she was struck by a horseshoe at a local pitching game in New Orleans.

The Methodist and Presbyterian churches will host Vacation Bible School from June 21 to July 2. Children ages four through twelve will attend kindergarten to junior grades with sessions from 8 30 to 10 30 each morning. All community youths are invited.
Children who attended Vacation Bible School at the Baptist Church will present a program Friday at 8 o'clock. They will demonstrate what they have learned and display the handwork. All parents and friends are urged to attend.
Funeral services were held at Earnheart Chapel for Samuel Stanton Doss 80. He died Sunday morning after a six month illness. Born near Whitewright in 1873, he lived in San Benito before moving back to Texas. Surviving are a brother and a sister. Relatives attended from Sabinal Bonham and Pilot Point.
Samuel Raymond Glidewell 88 a native of Seddon Alabama died last Thursday at his daughter’s Denton home. Funeral services were held Monday in Oklahoma City. He ran a Whitewright jewelry store in the early 1900s and later moved to Wichita Falls in 1916. Survivors include his wife five sons five daughters a brother and nine grandchildren.
A Brooklyn appellate court ruled that a wife may steal from her husband and vice versa. In the Harry Morton case the husband kept 250 dollars hidden by his wife Katherine in her paint store. The ruling reversed a prior decision based on unity of husband and wife, stating spouses are not one.
Prince Sunbeam 249, the Aberdeen Angus bull famed for champion progeny, died yesterday from undetermined causes at Shadow Isle Farms. The bull’s legacy included a landmark sale when a half interest was sold to T. F. Murchison of San Antonio for about $100,000 in a widely publicized deal.
Cross Roads community sets a homecoming next Sunday June 20 at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church with talks by former pastors headlining the program. Public invited and former Desert residents ten miles south of Whitewright receive a special invitation.
The Lake Texoma Association starts its first membership drive aiming for 1500 business members. The fall fishing derby runs Sept 3 to Nov 28 in six two week contests with semi weekly prizes and a Dec 4 finals for a new car as grand prize. Entry costs 1 per angler and 10 per firm.
North Fort Hood Texas reports Field Marshal Albert Kesselring’s praise for the 36th Division once again in wartime training. The seventh postwar summer encampment gathers about 8 500 guardsmen, with 750 new recruits, plus two Whitewright officers among the units. Ex students and visitors packed Grayson College on Sunday for the reunion led by Miss Gladys Ray. Registration reached 195 with 95 visitors. a social preceded the main events, including a memorial, roll call, music, a spelling bee, and prize drawings. The museum project to become the Grayson Alumni Center was discussed with about $500 spent so far.
H N Smith Texas conservation official says upstream flood prevention dams in Trinity River basin do not threaten water supply. Evaporation loss from these pools is far smaller than major reservoirs, while preventing floods and reducing sedimentation.
Rain in and near Whitewright measured about three inches with gauges at 2.86 and 3 inches. The heavy rain slowed harvests, boosted expectations for a strong corn crop, while wheat yields showed variability. Cotton prospects remained uncertain due to wet conditions. Local wheat buyers offered 1.95 dollars per bushel, about 15 cents under the government price support. Some farmers reported up to 40 bushels per acre for wheat, though averages were lower.
