The Grayson College Ex-Students Association will meet on the Elementary School campus next Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The college, founded in 1887 by H. L. Piner and J. F. Anderson, operated through 1910-1911.

McKinney is currently rebuilding Highway 121 between Trenton and Bonham.

Sherman chamber executive committee passed a resolution urging Grayson County tax officials to prepare a list of voters qualified to vote in the June 20 highway bond issue election. The election will be limited to registered voters with real or personal property on the county tax rolls, with judges to receive precinct lists of qualified tax paying voters.
Mrs Mary Burchfield 94 longtime Whitewright resident died last Thursday in Whitewright Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Saturday at Barnhart funeral chapel with Rev LeRoy Martin Rev Houston Garner and Rev Dale Gore officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Born Aug 28 1872 in South Carolina she married Rev A W Burchfield in 1891. Survived by four sons three daughters 40 grandchildren 83 great grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren.

Forty years ago on the prior Sunday Mr. Claud Stephens and Miss Irline Blanton were married. Hudson, Davis & Co. advertised 22x44 Turkish towels at six for 1.44 and rayon bedspreads for 3.95. Dr. and Mrs. Reynolds May and children joined Rev. Grady May at Celina for a family reunion. John Philip Barbee named agent for Pierce Oil Corp. at McKinney.
35 years ago on Sunday afternoon Bernie Marshall aged 17 drowned while swimming at the Sears pool east of town. Local authorities reported the incident and mournful neighbors recalled his activities at school and youth events.
Commercial Construction Co. of Waco won the contract to build federal housing units in Whitewright and Howe. The bid totaled $278,990 with $171,690 allocated to Whitewright and $107,300 to Howe. Sixteen aged persons units will be built in Whitewright and ten in Howe, with five months allowed for completion. Olin Goese & Associates of Fort Worth serve as architects.
The head start school classes began Monday with 46 six year old students enrolled for the eight week pre-school program. It aims to give a better start for their first year in school and is part of a federal aid to education project. Teachers are Audra Bennett Eva Blanton Bertis Hodge and Jessie Meade from the Elementary School faculty.
