American Book Co. seeks mandamus to force state to honor contracts
The American Book Company files for leave to bring mandamus in the supreme court to compel State Superintendent S. M. N. Marrs to recognize contracts made by the State textbook commission last December. The petition claims the company holds contracts for geographies and readers and that the superintendent refuses to honor them despite legislative direction. The case centers on price savings alleged by renewing old contracts versus new texts, with potential $2,000,000 impact.
