Homer Gentry, a 37 year veteran of Whitewright schools, told Rotary Club of early Whitewright life. He recalled the first Model T in town owned by Dave McClure, 10 cent gas, 15 cent rides, and a bustling memory of old days, vouchers, and courtly manners.

Whitewright high school plans an all day homecoming on Saturday Sept 13 for graduates, former teachers and former students. events start 9 a.m. with registration and visitation, lunch at noon, a 1 p.m. business session, class meetings at 2 p.m., a 4:30 p.m. catered barbecue, and a 8 p.m. football game vs Tom Bean at Tiger Stadium. reservations for the barbecue are required with tickets $3.50. post game parties and Sunday morning church services are planned.

Whitewrights Plan Early Start For 1975 76 School Year
Whitewright teachers begin Aug 11 with in service training while students register Aug 14 and start classes Aug 18. Bus runs shift for registration days and normal hours resume on opening day. TEA will provide training Aug 11 12 and 13 14. Holidays listed include Labor Day Thanksgiving Christmas New Year and spring break. Final exams May 24 25 and commencement May 26.

Soaking Rains Break Drought in Whitewright Weekend
Whitewright received 2.6 inches of rain over the weekend, with 1.5 inches Saturday and Sunday and 1.1 inches Thursday and Friday. It was the first measurable rain in July, welcomed by farmers gardeners and cattlemen as pastures yards gardens and stock tanks will benefit. General rainfall spread across North Texas with improvements reported in Sherman Denison Bonham Trenton and nearby areas. Residents began watering yards and gardens and the rain will reduce outdoor water use and aid late crop cuttings before frost.
