Texas A M College extension chemist M K Thornton explains using tri chloroacetate sprayed at one third to three fourths of a pound per gallon of water to eradicate Bermuda and Johnson grass. One gallon covers about 100 square feet. June and July applications kill most grass, but cost and supply limit large-area use. TCA acts on tops and soil, with effectiveness reduced by rain and dry conditions, lasting 90 to 120 days.
