Whitewright Sun Public Notices and May Economic Trends
The Whitewright Sun reports the annual American Legion picnic ongoing through Saturday with large crowds and active concessions. Texas rail fruit and vegetable shipments in May fall 18.5 percent from April, 26 percent below May 1945, due to seasonal factors. Spot cotton prices rebound to 33 1/2 cents, suggesting potential farmer profits if harvests are good. Primary election plans include eighty four gubernatorial candidates, with voter education ahead of July 27 polls.

Whitewright's prominence and civic drive noted in 1946
The Whitewright area shows a blend of oil, grain and farm wealth with Kay Kimbell and William Fleming as leading local benefactors. The town, staunchly dry by a 310 to 93 vote, boasts a Rotary Club famed as onion capital and a strong Cottonland economy with blackland farms selling above 150 dollars per acre. Sheriff sale notices and drilling activity near Snowden McCullough No. 1 reflect ongoing legal and energy interest in the region.
