Dr. Paul E Geers begins the Whitewright Medical and Surgical Clinic with open house. The Whitewright Board of Education approved the school year from September 2 to May 25 with two Thanksgiving holidays and Christmas to New Year and Easter breaks. Ray Lumpkins was hired as bus driver and maintenance mechanic. The city will begin a can and rubbish pickup Monday, weather permitting, with residents asked to place trash in alley containers for loading.
Walter Lee Martin 48 a former Whitewright resident died June 28 in Coolidge Arizona after a several weeks illness. Funeral and burial were in Coolidge. Born July 5 1910 in Hayesville North Carolina he lived in Whitewright before moving to Coolidge 13 years ago where he worked as a machinist for the San Carlos Irrigation and Drainage District. He is survived by his parents two sisters and three brothers and was a nephew of Mrs. W J Martin of Whitewright.
Funeral services were held at 10 a m in Dallas for George O. Longley 70 former Whitewright resident and retired salesman who died Tuesday in Dallas. He was born near Farmersville and lived in Whitewright earlier. survived by wife Jessie T Longley a brother Theodore four sisters in Dallas and Mesquite.
In Leeds John William Ashworth an unemployed man aged 42 dreamed of breaking into a gas meter during a drunken night. He checked the cellar and found the meter opened with two shillings missing. He turned himself in and the city court dropped charges after his admission.

Body sent to McKinney in an Earnheart ambulance.
Police Dispatcher H. F. Moore was startled when lightning struck the radio aerial atop the police building during a Sunday night storm. The bolt traveled through a conduit and arced with a bang, creating a weld on a vacuum bottle and an oil can resting on a metal cabinet in Moore’s office.
