Day's Events Official Program and Parade Route Summary
A day of events begins at 9 a.m. with a parade from American Legion Park led by Parade Marshal Bill Dyer. The route proceeds north on Sears to Earnheart Chapel, west on Maple to Chapman, north to Grand, then east to Pettit Parking Lot for the Bicycle Brigade and First National Bank lot for the Tricycle Corps, to Nicely's Mobile Station and back to the park. Archery by Grayson County Bowmen, a Pigskin Club picnic, Cake Walk, Quilting Contest, three legged race, shaving contest, washer game, land treasure, watermelon eating, greased pig, cow chip throwing, fortune telling, bubble gum blowing, horseshoe, yo-yo, and a domino tournament at 1 p.m. by Sam Montgomery, plus a men’s softball tournament at 1 p.m. by Pigskin Club. Bob Gentry program chairman for technical writing was named most professional teacher by fellow instructors at Texas State Technical Institute in Waco. He joined State Tech in 1966, became program chairman in 1972, and is pursuing a PhD at Baylor after degrees from East Texas State University. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs Homer Gentry of Whitewright.
