Do Not Neglect Young Chickens As They Grow

Do not neglect the young pullets as they grow large enough to run and feed themselves. This critical period affects winter laying hens and their development, a warning to farmers about managing flock growth and care.

Take care of your poultry this summer for winter

Be a serious mistake to neglect them at this time. They should be kept free from insects, protected from diseases and fed suitable rations at regular intervals. They will need a balanced ration and regular feed with plenty pure water and adequate shade. The same suggestion applies to hens that are not laying in the summer season. That they are not laying and hence are not paying is no reason why they should not have attention. In fact, we believe it is all the better reason why they should have care and attention so they will begin to lay in the fall and winter. The merchant who sees his opportunity advertises his business in dull seasons and prepares for better business when conditions are better. The same applies to poultry raising. Take care of your fowls this summer if you wish them to take care of you next winter.

Canning Essentials for Safe Preservation

Canning is the quickest way to preserve fruits and vegetables when facilities and care are proper. Use new rubber tops, fit tightly, and ensure jars are filled to brim, sealed airtight, and stored in a cool dark place to prevent fermentation.

Modest Self Praise Satirized by Walt Mason Poem
