C B Bryant Jr sold a 100 acre farm on highway 160 about one and a half miles south of Whitewright to Ellis Morgan of Savoy. The deal closed Saturday with cash consideration of 15 000. Morgan bought the property as an investment amid rising land values in Whitewright.
Grayson County Commissioners Court approved a 1946 salary schedule with total raises of 5195 dollars. The tax office and sheriff received a flat 10 percent increase. tax office totals 2475 dollars and sheriff 1280 dollars. Subsidy rates are 70 cents per hundred for milk and 17 cents for butterfat to offset high feed costs. Dairymen must submit sales slips in person or by mail for the milk and butterfat sold during the period. payments in the county range from $1 to $800 per person.
Washington reports most strikers will not receive unemployment compensation from the U S agency. Five week waiting in Pennsylvania, four other states pay benefits, waiting periods range three to eight weeks. Some states offer aid under conditions. New York cotton futures mark the highest close since 1927 28 as the New York Cotton Exchange doubles margin requirements. March contracts quoted at 25.02 cents per pound, a peak not seen since May 1928. Exchange president William H. Kear said margins rise from 5 to 10 dollars per bale starting tomorrow.
The Budget Bureau recommends a $54,000 appropriation for 1947 to administer protect and maintain the Lake Texoma recreational area at Denison Dam in Texas and Oklahoma in cooperation with the War Department Chief of Engineers.
