Dalton Hill, discharged from the Army December 17, will become a partner of Pascal Farley in the local grocery business within weeks. The pair previously partnered for three years before the war. Hill, who served in the Aleutian Islands and in European field hospitals, will start work at the store next week. The Hills reside at the Penn Apartments.

PRIOR APPROVAL REQUIRED IN SOIL PRACTICES
Grayson County farmers were reminded this week by W. W. Gunn AAA administrator that all soil conservation practices planned must be approved before work begins. A few farmers had already completed work on one or more of the 25 practices in the $134,000 farm program without county AAA committee approval. Gunn explained that the federal funds were provided with the stipulation that all work under the program must first be approved by the three county committee members, and that the AAA is not obligated to pay for any practice completed without approval.

165000 Texas jobless seen
Unemployment totaling 165 000 by Feb 15 was forecast by the United States Employment Service with current jobless at about 125 000. About 80 percent are males and most are discharged veterans. In November, veteran job-seekers at USES offices rose 66 percent from October.

British troops to aid in Japan occupation

Bridge removed after Ash Creek channel fills near Rienzi
Since 1894 the Ash Creek channel near Rienzi filled up and the steel bridge placed there that year is no longer needed. County Commissioner G W Berryhill of Precinct 2 is removing the bridge and plans to reuse it elsewhere in the precinct.
