William M. Holcomb, 87, died at his home in Kentuckytown Wednesday morning after a brief illness. He lived in the Kentuckytown community for years and is survived by his wife and several children. The funeral was at Kentuckytown Baptist Church this morning at 10 o'clock, with interment at Wittitee Cemetery southwest of town.

Mountain Doctor Who Served Free Dies At Age 84
Craig Colorado remembers Dr. B A Arbogast who died at 84 after influenza. The hermit physician lived thirty years in a remote cabin, never charged for care, accepting goods or free will offerings. He rode horseback to reach cowboys and homesteaders and made a last trip to aid twins in a snowbound ranch. Funeral rites set for Wednesday at the hilltop cabin.

Sherman Reports 12 Dead From Influenza
Sherman notes ongoing influenza cases though not alarming. Dr A L Ridings, city health officer, says the pace is not increasing. City registrar records show twelve deaths since December 1 attributed to pneumonia or influenza, with only three in November.

Refund on Auto Taxes Declared Impossible
The Texas Assistant Attorney General ruled there can be no refund of the 1929 automobile tax or any part of it. The opinion cites Section 55, Article 3 of the Constitution forbidding refunds of state obligations once due. Auto license taxes were due January 1, so no relief or reduction will occur before 1930.

Seek medical guidance from nurses and doctors. laypersons should not treat pneumonia alone.

Two Men Seek Sheriff’s Office in Cooke County
In Gainesville a restraining injunction against A Reece was dissolved by District Judge Ben W Boyd. Lubbock Fire Chief Killed In Truck Crash After Alarm
J Neuel Bryan assistant fire chief 28 died after the fire truck he drove skidded turning over after veering to miss two autos. His wife who sent the alarm pulled him free but he died at a local hospital. Fellow firefighters Glenn Smith and Maurice Scott were injured but expected to recover. The wrecked vehicle also struck a burning house.
