Mrs. C J Denton a former Whitewright schoolteacher aged 90 died in a Sherman nursing home last Thursday funeral services were held in Sherman and burial in Whitewright She was born Lula Hollingsworth taught in Whitewright before World War I married C J Denton in 1915 while he headed the Whitewright schools Survivors include two stepsons Hermann Denton Galveston and Ferman Denton South Bay Florida a stepdaughter Mrs Harry Mitchell South Bay Fla a sister Mrs J L Blackburn Howe and three nieces named in Denison Corpus Christi Sherman and Corpus Christi
The Whitewright Riding Club chose officers for the coming year with O. V. Barker as president and William J. Bilmner as vice president. J. A. Harper Jr. is secretary and Houston Darwin treasurer. Six board members were elected to two year terms: Burt Durham Harold Hardin Dick Walker George Pittman John Bush James Smith Wallace Wilson. Holdover directors remain Bob Langford John D. Truelove David Johnson James H. Gosnell John Pemberton Ralph Christian. An arena project proceeds with pens due for rodeo season. Open play day arranged by Truelove Walker Langford. A quarter horse show is set for Sunday June 7. participants to contact club officers.
The Ways and Means Committee of the local school sponsors a girls and boys double header at 7 30 p m in the school gym. Whitewright faces Tom Bean with admission 25 cents for students and 50 cents for adults. Hot dogs drinks and popcorn sold to raise funds for PTA projects.
