Explosion Fatal To Leonard Man at H and H Wrecking Yard
Leonard resident Arling O. Starnes, 32, died at M&S Hospital nine hours after an acetylene torch cut on a sealed 4 inch pipe ignited an explosion at the H and H Wrecking Yard along U S Highway 82. Police and desk sergeant continue to investigate with no definite cause established. Red Hamilton noted Starnes was alone, and the pipe likely contained gas that exploded when heated.
