Whitewright youths debate for Denton
North Texas State Teachers College students Lloyd Stewart and Kermit Hollingsworth will travel to Conway Arkansas this weekend to represent their college at a debate tournament. They previously competed in the West Texas speech tournament at Abilene where 16 colleges and 32 teams participated and they defeated seven teams before losing to Baylor in the finals. The Baylor team of Warner Evans and Dick Sanders of Sherman won that event. Earlier they debated at Winnfield Kansas, winning six debates before losing to Chicago Teachers College. Stowers and Hollingsworth are Whitewright High School graduates with strong scholastic records.

The East Grayson County Young Peoples Union of the Methodist Church held its regular monthly meeting at the Methodist Church Tuesday night. About 165 out of town youths attended. the Sherman group led devotion while the Bells group directed recreation. The Whitewright hosts served 185 refreshments. Bells won the attendance cup.

The commissioners court on Tuesday established two new election precincts in Grayson County, adding Cannon and Dixie boxes. Voters in Cannon will use the Pilot Grove box previously, while Dixie voters move from the North Whitesboro box. The change lowers Whitesboro by about 100 votes. Pilot Grove strength is about 250.

White House extends bank deposit insurance for one year
A White House conference agreed to extend the current federal insurance for bank deposits up to 2500 dollars for another year.
