The Texas Research Foundation's TRF 9 white corn hybrid performed well in 1956 field tests across 19 Northeast Texas counties, averaging over 50 bushels per acre. J L Bane 82 of Graham died Wednesday at 4 a m in an Olney hospital after a career in Whitewright cafe life. Funeral Friday at 11 a m Fielder Baker Chapel Farmersville with burial IOOF Cemetery Farmersville. Survivors include two sons and a daughter, plus brothers and sisters across several states.
New York economist Dr Murray G Lee told the Ohio Bankers Association that the current economic boom is near its top and could give way to a recession possibly the worst since World War II. He cited weakening recession-props and a drop in capital investment, housing, and business spending as inventories rise and profits fall.
State representatives approved a constitutional amendment to set lawmakers pay at 4800 dollars per year and require annual legislative sessions. The 115 to 29 vote sends the measure to the Senate and then to voters in November 1958 if both houses approve.
