Whitewright area scouts, led by Scoutmaster Gary Petty and Assistant Scoutmaster Bill McFatridge, celebrate National Boy Scout Week with 16 members of Troop 42. The Texoma Valley Council unit meets Tuesdays at 7 pm, camps monthly, and attends Lake Texoma summer camp. The group promotes patriotism, self reliance, and service as part of a nationwide expansion plan through 1976.

Southern Belles Defeat Lions 68 50 In Whitewright Exhibition
A high scoring Friday night kept Whitewright buzzing as the Southern Belles, a professional girls team, edged the Lions 68 to 50. Dianne Mitchell led the Belles with 21 points while Ross Layman topped the Lions with 12. The event also showcased local conservation efforts from Whitewright and Tom Bean area landowners in cooperation with the Upper Elm Red Conservation District.
