Funeral services for Mrs. C. N. Scott, 65, were at Mullican- Little chapel in Bells. She died Saturday night and is buried at Virginia Point Cemetery. Born March 31, 1901 in Abilene, she married C. N. Scott in 1920. he died in 1959. Survived by three sons Roy Marvin Scott Bells J C Scott Grapevine. three daughters Ray Wheeler Louisville Ky H W Mercer Gainesville and Jas Runnells Lewisville. two brothers, one sister and eleven grandchildren.
Jesse H. James 53 died January 29 in a Lubbock hospital. Funeral and burial were in Lubbock January 31. Born September 13, 1913 in Trenton, he married Lila Mae Smith in October 1933. A 20 year Lubbock resident and retired Texas Tech employee, he leaves his wife, three sons Donald Ray of Lubbock, Fred W. James in Thailand, John H. James at Fort Monmouth, a brother Fred L. James of Trenton, and six grandchildren.
American textile firms foresee canned clothing becoming common. New York and Chicago now sell dresses in cans with a built in opener, priced at 25 dollars for six Paris models. Mrs Delores Speigel and her 10 year old son Chris Boatwright were in serious condition at Allen Memorial Hospital Bonham after a Friday 5 p.m. two car crash ten miles north of Whitewright on Highway 69. Speigel suffered pelvis and hip fractures and other injuries while her son had a fractured leg and additional injuries. The other car was driven by Findley Haile. Haile and Mrs Speigel’s other three children received bruises. Speigel, daughter of Mr and Mrs J C Whipple of Whitewright, works for Johnson and Johnson at Sherman and lives in Whitewright.
WSCS met at the home of Mrs A M Bryant with Mrs James Bryant as president. Mrs Roby Childress gave the devotional and prayer. District WSCS president Mrs Wry Wyble spoke and presented membership pins to two longtime members. Guests included Mrs Noel Bryant and Mrs C E Rhodes. 16 members and three guests attended and refreshments were served.
Carson City report says Nevada casino profits outpace the 500 largest U.S. firms with 14.2 percent return on capital. It recommends a 50 percent tax rise over 10 years and an immediate 25 percent hike, plus possible personal and corporate income taxes and a death tax to offset a looming budget gap.
IBM chairman Thomas J. Watson Jr says Americans could work 22 hours a week and keep living standards, or 27 weeks a year, or retire at 38, by 1985. He spoke after receiving an award from the American Business Press for outstanding service.

Star Kid, Walker Quarter Horse Ranch senior sire, also earns cutting merit. Caira, four year old mare owned by Walker and shown by Braswell, placed fifth in junior roping.

Weekday events include deacons banquet Sunbeams Girls Auxiliary prayer service choir rehearsal and special socials. The Methodist Church under Rev. George Topper shows Sunday School at 10 00 worship at 11 00 and evening services 6 00 and 7 00 with M Y F W S C S and Guild meetings. A MYF gathering is set for Sherman on Saturday.
Rev. C. C. Dooley invites all to 11:00 worship where grandson Robert E. Hoy from the U S Navy Destroyer Jonas Ingram will speak about impressions from last summer’s Mediterranean cruise. Missionary Society meets Monday at 2:30 p m with Mrs Bill Holloway as hostess. a program is planned.
