Charles Ferman Denton died Sunday in South Bay Florida. He was the son of the late C J Denton former superintendent of Whitewright public schools around 1913. He was buried in Belgrade Florida Wednesday. Surviving are his wife one daughter one step daughter and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Virginia Point Methodist Church for Mrs. George Ernest Keeling 73 with burial in Virginia Point Cemetery. Born Sept 17 1893 near Bells she was daughter of Rev W A Fleming. She married in 1914 and is survived by a daughter three brothers a sister six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Oak Hill Cemetery Association warns lot owners that vandals are stealing flowers bulbs and artificial arrangements from cemetery lots. Charged offenders will face legal action as cemetery property is private. Prosecution will follow any theft detected at the grounds.
Miss Betty England and Mr. John Jarvis were married at 6 p m Friday at Bethel by Rev Charles Pierce. Attendants were Mr and Mrs Jack England. The couple spent the weekend in Dallas and Fort Worth and reside south of Whitewright.

High speed processing requires symbol cards. non preprinted checks will be treated as non cash collections, delaying credit until complete processing through the drawer’s bank.
A two year survey presented to the Texas State Board of Mental Health and Mental Retardation found that more than half of the 15 284 patients in state mental hospitals could be treated elsewhere or at home. Twenty five percent or 3 821 persons could be released with local facilities offering minimum care. The plan recommends moving patients from antiquated buildings and maintaining staff to improve care as caseloads drop, and treating alcoholics in local facilities.

Forty years ago on January 27 1927 Velma Bennett Johnny V Dossey Grady Fae Coley S T Montgomery Jr Ouida Nell Harris Beatrice Maynard Eva Jane Skaggs Mary Gae Wood Margaret Pierce Una Mae Mangrum and Margaret Sears made the seventh grade honor roll. Mrs W H Davidson celebrated her daughter Elizabeth with a birthday party on the weekend. The fifth and sixth grades organized a charity club based on the 13th chapter of First Corinthians in a move reflecting civic spirit.

The Whitewright Riding Club won first place in the Fort Worth Fat Stock Show parade for the riding division. The event opened Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show with a crowd over 100,000 watching 6,500 riders, 3,500 horses, 75 riding clubs and 50 bands parade through downtown. Brenda Barker served as club sweetheart. The club, with 85 families, hosts play days and rodeos and has earned invitations to future parades and rodeos in Oklahoma and Texas.
Texas personal income reached nearly 27 billion dollars in 1966 with total retail sales at 16.4 billion, up 7 percent from 1965. December sales grew 7 percent, aided by one extra shopping day versus 1965, while national growth was 4 percent. Texarkana and Sherman led regional gains at 12 and 10 percent, with McAllen and Brownsville at 11 and 8 percent.
Cary B. Palmer of the Crop and Livestock Reporting Service reports Texas feedlots hold 674000 cattle for slaughter on January 1, up 25 percent from the prior year. He notes a 4 percent jump from December 1 to January 1 and 11136000 cattle on feed across 32 major states, 7 percent higher than January 1966.
