Governor candidate to tax Texas natural resources
Tyler lawyer F. W. Fischer, a candidate for governor, proposes a broad resources tax plan to replace the ad valorem tax and a large share of the gasoline tax. He suggests a 15 cent production tax, a 2 cent per thousand cubic feet natural gas tax, and higher sulphur tax plus new taxes on quicksilver cement and other resources, funding pensions and state needs. Poll taxes in Fannin County rise above seven thousand
Wilbur Faxon of the assessor collector's office reported in Bonham that more than 7,000 poll taxes have been paid in Fannin County, estimating between 7,000 and 7,500. He noted this is considerably higher than in the past four years.

Bad Weather Slows Down WPA Projects in Whitewright
