M W A Banquet At Sherman
Twelve members of the local Modern Woodmen camp attended a class adoption and banquet in Sherman last Friday night. T W Gattis assisted the McKinney degree team and gave the welcome for the Whitewright camp. About three hundred visitors were banqueted at the Maccabee Hall. Attendees from here included T W Gattis Dr Ross May George German Louis Randle Frank Smith Frank Phillips Lia Kirkpatrick Henry Phillips Walker rents Norman McFatridge B L Garner and Jack Conner. Gattis remarked Garner and Conner ate so much they could not return home until the next day.

Prisoners Sent to State Penitentiary from Sherman
State Penitentiary Agent Bud Russell escorted seven prisoners from Grayson and Fannin counties to the prison. Pat Thornhill of Denison, a murder defendant, received 30 years after a Decem ber term conviction. Burglary Strikes Savoy Stores on Friday Night
Burglars broke the front door glass to enter the Savoy shops of H. H. Atterberry and W. J. Teague. From Teague’s store several sacks of flour canned goods and a gun were stolen. Atterberry’s shop reported missing several pairs of shoes gloves and other small items.

Fortuna Oil Company files 38 more leases near Tom Lean
The Fortuna Oil Company through G. W. Taylor of Oklahoma City filed thirty eight additional oil and gas leases with County Clerk Nath A. Cox in Sherman. Leases cover about 2853.7 acres within five miles of Tom Lean, pushing this company’s total holdings beyond 40 000 acres and contributing to a county total around 65 000 acres across several firms.
