C B Bryant Sr long in El Paso with health for weeks develops pneumonia and is reported seriously ill. Mrs Bryant travels to El Paso to stay by his bedside as telegrams track his worsening condition and his son in Sweetwater heads to join them.
Dr. E J Neathery aged 62 and a practicing physician for 37 years died suddenly at his Sherman home 714 North Travis Tuesday night after an acute heart attack. Born 1867 in Albany Kentucky he trained at Kentucky School of Medicine and practiced in Van Alstyne before moving to Sherman in 1899 where he led Sherman Hospital and Neathery Clinic for 16 years. He married May Batsell in 1893 and is survived by his wife a daughter Mrs Roy King a grandson John Neathery King three brothers and many relatives. Funeral at his residence followed by burial in Sherman Mausoleum.
Regular preaching services will be held at the Central Christian Church Sunday morning and evening. All members are urged to be present.
Robert Warren, a business college student in Dallas, is visiting his parents near town.
Dallas officials unveil a ten year building plan aimed at expanding the State Fair of Texas as a regional and state exposition. Profit of 105000 from the last fair drives a survey of needs and staged expansion including doubling agricultural livestock and 4-H facilities and a new stadium with at least 30000 seats at an estimated 250000 required for the first phase.
Miss Pauline Bradley and T. M. Dick of Clovis New Mexico wed Sunday at 5 PM in the home of Rev. J H Hawkins pastor of the First Baptist Church. The bride long employed in the Devonport Variety Store was reared in Whitewright. groom a cabinet maker in Clovis. The ceremony was small with a few friends present and the couple then visited relatives in Pilot Point before departing for their home.
The Rotary Club luncheon program led by president F. E. Douglas featured Rev. J. H. Hawkins delivering a Christmas talk and hymns sung by Misses Willie Ross and Martha Joe Sears with Mrs. G. F. Bryant at the piano. Earlier meetings included a gift exchange with 25 cent limits, which produced fifteen minutes of amusement.
A Texas man, A. T. Quicksall of Coryell County, set a world hog production record with a seven pig litter averaging 390 pounds in 180 days, under the Texas Ten Litter Contest. The heaviest pig weighed 420 pounds. production cost was 7.6 cents per pound, using A&M feeds and Sudan grazing.
Grayson County would pay one third of the total cost for the second unit of ten miles of Highway No. 91 from Denison toward Preston, with a free Red River bridge condition. The State Highway Commission minutes show $32,872.98 state and federal funds for half the grading and drainage, matched by Grayson County. The second unit requires a revised agreement and a free bridge across Red River before bidding proceeds.
Senator Smith of South Carolina urged the Senate to probe the Agriculture Department’s estimate of this year’s cotton output, arguing overestimation by about 500 000 bales. A Christmas package traveled 98 miles over six years reaching Denton to honor a late recipient. In 1922 Mrs C A Tripp sent the parcel to her grandfather O P Taylor of the city. he died two years earlier, yet last week relatives received the small package that had seemed lost long ago.
Excavation started Monday for the first unit of the Woodman Circle National Home for aged members and children on a 214 acre site one and one half miles west of Sherman. The city is laying a water main from West Sherman to the site. Ground was broken weeks ago when national officers visited Sherman.
Dr J F Burt, a Brady physician and pecan grower, advocates pecan oil as a substitute for castor oil. He tells the West Texas Pecan Association that pecan oil provides laxative benefits with less irritation and offers rich vitamins, aiding undernourished children.
County attorney elect Joe P. Cox announced his two year staff starting January 1 1929. Claude Eastham of Denison will handle tax matters J Q Adamson and Cliff Huggins of Sherman will serve as assistants Eastham and Huggins practice law in Denison and Sherman Judge Adamson previously assisted Roy M Finley whose term ends January 1 Cox said office will be at 221 M and P Bank building after January 1.

R. E. Shannon, 84, died at his country home north of Sherman after a short illness. He was the first white child born in Sherman and left a wife Mary and four children. His father Col. T. J. Shannon helped found much of Sherman’s land and brought premier Durham cattle gifted by Queen Victoria to Grayson County.
Greenburg Indiana reports a Big Four conductor Patrick J Maloney 64 died of heart disease after running to inform railroad officials of a collision at a crossing Two killed Chester Chambers 25 and sister Gladys Chambers 17 were in the automobile struck by Maloney's train near Cincinnati Ohio coordinates unclear The incident occurred at a crossing in Greenburg Indiana with particulars provided by the report
Uncle Thomas Sloan of Guthrie Oklahoma celebrated his 116th Christmas and 116th birthday this year. The centenarian remarks the world remains a pretty good place after more than a century.

A free will offering near 100 dollars supported Juliet Fowler Orphanage in Dallas, with D Leon Harp of San Antonio giving an illustrated Holy Land lecture at the Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. H. L. Gordon and her young daughter Barbara Jean of Abilene were injured in a Thursday afternoon car crash in Abilene. Mrs. Gordon suffered a broken collar bone while Barbara Jean sustained facial cuts. the injuries are not serious. The Gordons had planned to spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Gordon, but the crash postponed their visit to next week.
Bessie Lathrop, a New Haven high school teacher, died leaving an estate of 200000. She saved her salary, invested wisely, and funded college expenses for several students through a mediator. Her will creates scholarships for deserving New Haven high school students.
President Coolidge on a Saturday proclamation raised the onion duty from 1 cent to 14 cents per pound. The change takes effect January 21 under the 1922 tariff act after Tariff Commission inquiry into U S and Spain costs of production.

W L Riddle, a farmer on the Ben F Whitefield place, profitably used skipped cotton rows to grow seven acres of pinto beans. He produced 4,000 pounds of beans and earned 42.85 per acre. Riddle plans more beans and less cotton next year. Mr and Mrs John P Haden of Durant Oklahoma are holiday guests of Mr and Mrs Lucian LaRoe in Midland.
