J A Bixler, about 80, longtime Cotton Belt Railway agent in Whitewright, died last Thursday in a nursing home. Funeral services were held Saturday at Wylie with burial in Pecan Grove Cemetery. Mrs Bixler and their son W E B Bixler are noted as deceased. Mr and Mrs L E Alexander and daughter Dee Anna attended.
Funeral services for Joseph Addison Pritchett were held Sunday at Earnheart Funeral Home conducted by Rev. George Topper. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pritchett, born December 26 1877 in Whitewright, died in Austin where he had lived 25 years. He is survived by two sons and one daughter.

The Christmas season gift distribution sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and merchants of Whitewright moves closer with two Saturdays remaining Dec 23 and Dec 30 at 3 pm. The event drew a large crowd last Saturday.
Washington reports a February draft of 23 000 men all entering the Army, down from January's 34 000. The February total includes an unusual 18 2000 figure and follows a seasonal dip. Rep. Wright Patman filed a bill to defer junior college students to four year students, arguing current rules create second class citizenship and the measure will be taken up when Congress reconvenes January 15.
The Federal Communications Commission cleared the way for state utilities commissions to cut intrastate telephone charges by 66 million dollars next year with retroactive effect to December 1 expected by many states.
