Missionary Society Holds All Day Harvest Meeting
The Ladies Missionary Society of the Methodist church held an all day harvest meeting at Mrs. S A Hayes home. A noon cafeteria luncheon followed by social time and a program. Attendees expressed happiness at being part of the event.

Will Powell Dies in Accident at Newport News
Will Fr. Powell aged 36, of Whitewright, Texas, dies in Newport News Virginia after falling from an elevator shaft on a ship coaling tram while employed by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. He is survived by his widow, two children, his parents, and brother Mack Powell. The body arrived in Whitewright and funeral services will be held at his parents home with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Rumor of City Phone Line Shutdown Denied
Manager Dossey of Southwestern Telephone Co denies rumors that country lines would be discontinued after January 1. He says no statement has been issued and efforts are underway to persuade owners to rebuild lines for better service to town and party line subscribers.
